Task: Build a model which travels one metre (as the crow flies) in as short a time as possible on a smooth, even and horizontal plane.
Conditions: The model may not travel on wheels, chains (flexible tracks), hoops or anything which behaves like a wheel (and that includes made-up wheels or rings). So it must travel by hopping, walking, somersaulting, flying or making some similar movement.
The model must weigh between 1 kg and 3 kg, may be equipped with one or more motors from any metal construction system and must otherwise function entirely mechanically. It is permitted to supply electrical current from a source external to the model, connected to the model by a cable (from any source). The size of the model during the entire movement is limited to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm. At the beginning of the run, the model must stand still, may not be pushed and must move using its own power (apart form any external electrical current). All parts of the model and all points on the model must cover the entire length of the one metre. The model must follow the rules for materials (see below).

Rules for Materials
(for Category 2 and 3):
You may use all the parts from the metal construction system of the manufacturer of your choice (eg Meccano, Märklin, Stabil, Stokys, Konstruction, Merkur, ...), including replica parts provided they correspond exactly to parts sold by the manufacturer of your chosen metal construction system.
A mixture of parts from different metal construction systems is not allowed. However, all screws, bolts, and threaded rods of the Meccano system (or appropriate replicas) may be used with one of the other construction systems. Washers may be from any source.
Parts may be bowed slightly but may not be bent sharply nor otherwise permanently altered (eg cut, drilled, punched, filed, soldered, glued, etc).
Important: Your model must be designed and built by yourself and must not be an already-published model.
Any competitor may take part in several categories but it is not permitted to enter the same model in more than one category. In this case different models must be built. A single competitor may enter several models in one category - but one competitor can win at most one prize per category.
Finally please note: The decisions of the selection committee are binding and there is no appeal against them.
All competitors give their agreement that pictures or construction details or explanations of the models may published on schraube-und-mutter.de.
For category 3 it may be necessary to produce the model for inspection by a member of the selection committee.
The committee may make their own interpretation of the meaning of the rules.
Members of the selection committee are excluded from the competitions.
